iCreate Foundation Course in Digital Design

i Create is an exciting opportunity to explore digital design. It's where your creativity meets digital technology.

Using digital still and video cameras and computers, you'll produce a wide range of original art that combines traditional and digital media. You'll also learn digital illustration techniques and how to create images and pages suitable for web publication. This work is complemented by a wide range of art and creative practices to further enhance your skills base.

The course equips you with the skills you need to move on to diploma level study.

This course is an exciting opportunity for students to explore creative digital design.

Further learning

From the   iCreate course you will be able to gain a National Certificate in Computing, Level 3. This is an excellent pathway into Animasia's   Diploma of Animation and Digital Video ,   Diploma of Computer Graphic Design ,   Diploma of Interactive Design   or Diploma of Web Development .

Course Components

  • Digital images   - capturing, creating and manipulating with Photoshop
  • Digital video   - planning, capturing and editing with iMovie or Movie Maker
  • Digital illustration with  Illustrator
  • Introductory document design and production with Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
  • Introductory website design and production with iWeb and Dreamweaver
  • Learn how to think creatively, document and express your ideas - includes creating a visual diary
  • Experiment with art media and techniques
  • Explore the techniques, approaches and ideas of established artists and designers
  • Investigate different sources of inspiration
  • Critique and present your work.

Assessment

  • Assessment is standards-based, which means you need to meet all the standards set for a particular task.
  • There are no marks or examinations.
  • You are encouraged to develop technical skills and your own design style.
  • Reassessment opportunities are available during the course.
  • Minimum 80% attendance requirements apply.

Entry Requirements

Entry is based on application and interview. There are generally no restrictions to entry. No previous computer experience is necessary.
